In November 2017, a public inquiry was launched by the Planning Inquiry to consider Solum’s proposed redevelopment of Guildford Station. Solum, the multi-site development partnership between Network Rail and Kier Property, appealed against the decision by Guildford Borough Council to refuse its proposal to revitalise Guildford Station in October 2016.

The £150m regeneration scheme at Guildford would deliver a new station building, £25m of station improvements, 438 new homes, office spaces, and a radically enhanced station environment with an attractive station plaza and high quality public realm.

These proposals followed five years of engagement between Solum, Guildford Council, and local residents to develop a scheme that aligned with the Council’s emerging Local Plan and while meeting the aspirations and needs of the local community. This is the first time Solum has ever appealed a planning decision.

A final decision on the public inquiry is expected in 2018.
